here's to new beginnings....

measurements...

This picture represents everything that is important to me. At a glance you might not think much about it. The subject doesn't seem so interesting and I am sure my kids' kids will think that their grandmother took the strangest pictures. Anyhoo... this scene, that I captured... was a moment that blossomed into one that was unforgetable. Corbyn wanted to do a project,(as always) and he found a bag of a crafts left overs... random bits... long story short, we spent 30-40mins stretching the pieces as long as they would go... and then he organized them from biggest to littlest (thats what he said he was doing) and then I got the idea to get the measuring tape and we measured each one and made a list of our discoveries... during this project we spelt 'string' over and over together as I wrote it out and he told me the number that would follow next in line. In the end he would glance at 37 and say, "Mom, its 37 inches" all on his own.... we had so much fun.

This picture tells me that I am capable of being a wonderful teacher for my son. I have all his best interest in mind and love him so much that there isn't a word to describle my affection. I am in awe of the way he words his feelings and thoughts and I want to nourish all that is my son.

I am feeling better about this new phase we are entering in his life... he's almost 5 you know. Some of you know that early this year the thought of 'schooling' was giving me panic attacks (not really, thats a little strong but you get the picture) public school, private school and/or homeschooling....

I have been talking with a mom at Corbyn's school and she homeschools her oldest and the sister will start kindergarten right next to her big brother this coming school year. I think it rocks but am so very intimidated because lets face it, I do not have a degree in education... what in the world do I know but to follow my intution. So upon that she has let me borrow this book that I have been finding extremely fasicnating. I forced myself to read the beginning introduction and her beliefs(this is usually hard for me... I wanted to fast forward to the 'teaching' part) , I am finally in the subject of language and how to teach this with your child... so very interesting... and mostly it seems to suggest ideas that maybe I had already thought but wasn't sure how to go about doing it, or actually some things I was doing so now I feel more confident. Its a gentle approach and for my highly sensitive little guy I am relating much to how this mom of seven feels about "teaching" or should I say "learning". I am only on page 59 and there are 250 or so... I plan to journal our summer as I plan to homeschool for the summer break.

So... I plan to write again soon, but I was informed that I needed an update :)
take care...
p.s. I have included this... it was part of my MOthers Day gift from Corbyn. His teacher interviewed him and she wrote what he said... I can tell by his answers.... later gaters!
one of my Mother's Day gifts....

wheres waldo???

It seems I have scattered myself all around again. I am finally having some breathing space it seems until tomorrow when I have a committee meeting for an upcoming banquet. and I threw a party for the members of our Moms Club yesterday.

My Mother's Day was fabulous!!! I woke up to breakfast and coffee in bed.
I watched part of an old Sally Field's movie, in bed... and then read some of my most current novel, in bed... and laid in bed some more. The kids and hubby gave me a 'See's chocolate' box... and a bottle of Eternity's Summer perfume. Later we went shopping to get out of the house and I got a couple shirts and a pair of capris'. (very excited about this... its been at least a yr since I have bought any type of clothing for myself) Anyhoo... we grilled carne asada and had just a grand day. Did I mention that everyone in my house, including the 4 yr old took a nap. What more could I have asked for.
I am very blessed with the family that was given to me. I love them each so very much and I love my husband even more for loving me. I know that I can be tough to stand sometimes... but Mario gets me and I love him so much for that. He made me feel completely appreciated and loved and there are no words to describe that feeling. So, honey, thank you...

Life has been pretty good... today is cloudy and windy. In other words, it couldn't be a more PERFECT and beautiful day. We have spent most of the day outside. Corbyn has had a friend over and Myla just follows them around... wanting to only do what they do.

I have so many things that I want to post about and no energy by the end of the day. And I am too lazy to dump my pictures on the computer... good thing hubby gets me and got me an outrageous amount of space on the memory card. ;)

anyhoo... I hope that everyone living in AZ is enjoying this wonderful weather. Who knows when we will see such a sight again...esp with the summer approaching.... we will be praying for shade in these parts.

hope this finds everyone in good spirits!!!
